THE WALKER CUP. LONDON, June 3. •America defeated Britain for the Walker Gup by 64 to 54. In the afternoon • round Jones beat Tolley, 12 ayd 11; Hazlet and Vonclon halved; Gunn beat Brownley, 9 and 8; Swcetzer beat Holdcrness, 4 and 3; Wethered beat Oumet, 5 and 4; Harris beat Guildford, 2 and 1; Storey beat Mackenzie, 2 and 1; Jamieson beat Cardner, 6 and 4. Jones’ defeat of Tolley in the WalkerCup is the biggest victory in the history of the cup. Tolley won a solitary hole in the morning round, and in Hie afternoon round Jones won three of the first seven holes and halved the rest. lie played almost perfect golf throughout. Only one drive was off the line in the entire match, and even then it is second stroke reached Hie green. WAIRAKAU V HORAHORA. On Saturday last( the golf match between Wairakau imd Ilorahora Golf Clubs, was played on Ihc Wairakau course. The match cndcil in a draw, Ihere being many close games. Mr Middleton in wlcoining the Ilorahora players, expressed the pleasure it gave the Wairakau Golf Club, to have the visiting team.
Mr Swaney, in returning thanks for Ilorahora, hoped the return match would be played on a near date.
