BUT HIS LUCK CHANGED. To win £IOOO in one week by backing horses, to lose every penny of that sum, and then to be charged with stealing, have been the experiences, according to the police, of a Sydney business man, who was arrested last week. The books of the company were examined, but nothing amiss could be found, though there was no doubt that the money had disappeared. , Then Detective-Sergeant Bowie and Detective Young learnt of a man’s luck at the races. lie had increased iiis winnings with practically every bet. At the end of the week he had won £IOOO. Then his luck changed suddenly, and he began to lose heavily. It was not long before lie had lost all his winnings.

Constables Bowie and Young arrested. the man in a city street. He was taken to the Central Police Station and charged with stealing.
