Cambridge University circles have been discussing the probability of some members of the Senate on Saturday opposing a proposal lo confer the honorary degree of D.G.L. on Mr Ramsay MacDonald, Leader of Hie Labour Parly, because they object lo his utterances at Ihe lime of the general strike. Mr .MacDonald intimated he would not accept Ihe honour on a majority vote and the proposal was withdrawn. QUEBEC, .1 unc 2. A disastrous fire swept the town of Riv.icro du Loup, llie capilal of the Maskinonga county, near Three Rivers. The loss is estimated at £100,009. WA RUING TON, June 2. The agreement for a settlement of Ihe French debt lo Ihe United Stales was approved by the House of Representatives to-day. The debate had occupied a day and a-half. The matin- will now go before Ihe Senate where strong opposition to Ihe settlement terms is expected.
