EMPIRE TRADE.

ADOPTION OF SLOGANS. At a recent meeting of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce Mr A. M. Bisley submitted samples of slogans on envelopes in reference to Empire trade. Mr Bisley has received a number of letters from various bodies, of which the following are extracts: — From the Association of British Manufacturers and Agents—"l am much obliged to you for your letter, with samples of envelopes which are being circulated by Mr A. M. Bisley. We were also pleased to read in the Wellington papers of the 20th the report to the effect that your suggestion has been favourably received by the Chamber of Commerce of Palmcrston North. Work of this description is sure to be most helpful in promoting British trade, and, needless to say, it is greatly appreciated by the Council of this Association."

From the Wellington Chamber of Commerce—" These were exhibited at a meeting of our executive last evening, and I was directed to convey to you the Council's thanks for forwarding these to us. Our Council also wishes to congratulate your member upon his enterprise in giving sucli a practical demonstration of the desire to assist in the advancement of trade within the Empire." From the Association or New Zealand Chambers of Commerce —"This will thank you for sending envelopes which are used by Mr Bisley. Adoption of a slogan is a valuable means of publicity, and the points brought out by Mr Bisley are quite good. At a meeting of the local Chamber a night or two ago one member suggested that it might be possible to have letters postmarked 'Buy British or we perish.' There is a lot of truth in it."
