TIRAU.
A Big Parish. At the recent reception to Rev. W. i T. Braybyn by members of the local Presbyterian Church, the minister stated that bis parish extended a distance of GO miles—from W'aioma to Mokal. lie had been much encouraged by the very cordial reception accorded him wherever lie went, and the strong spirit and interest in church work shown augured well for the luture. Valedictory. A farewell was given to Mr A. .T. Burch, who has hcen relieving master at liie Tirau school for the past three months. During his short stay Mr Burch has made himself wonderfully popular with bolh tDo children and their parents, and a number of tlu: latter assembled in the school with the children io wish Mr Burch Godspeed. Mr Mouldey presided, and appreciative addresses were given by the chairman and Rev. W. T. Braybyn. On behalf of the scholars Miss Margaret Mouldey presented Mr Burch witli a beautiful afternoon tea set. Mr Burch returned thanks in a most feeling manner, slating his great rogrot at having lo leave the district. Presbyterian Church. At a largely-attended meeting of the irdics’ guild of the above church plans were discussed for augmenting iho linanees, and it was decided to hold a sale of work in a few months’ time.
