CAMBRIDGE. (By Cover Point.) Cambridge University will probably be found to be strong in baiting, but, as last year, not over-strong in howling. They have three men who played for the Gentlemen last year—Enthoven, Dawson and Duleepsinhji, the last-named a nephew of the famous Ranjitsinhji. Enthoven is the captain, and a fine all-rounder lie is. He lopped the hatting last year with 51.93; took 50 wickets for 22. tT; played for Middlesex; and was in the Genclcmen’s team at Lord’s. A keen field himself, it has been said that those .who have aspirations for Blues this year would be well-advised to put in all tlie fielding practice they can. Dawson is a fine batsman, and scored a century against Surrey last year. “Duleep,” who bids fair to make a name as great as his uncle’s, but along more orthodox tines, is quite a fair slow bowler as well as being a first-class balsrnan. Other old Blues available arc Meyer, who headed the bowling last year and has been keeping mg himself fit during the winter by playing a lot of golf, .logger, who took 5 for *lO against Sussex, and Lowe, who last year took 32 wickets—the University season is a short one—and played some nice innings. Lowe by the" way is the University Soccer captain. The selection of a wicketkeeper is likely to cause trouble, Slierwell, who did so well during the last three years, having gone down. Amongst the Freshmen wiio may find places is M. J. Turnbull, who baited well for Glamorgan two years ago when only 17. lie headed the Downshire School averages last year, scoring 1323 runs and averaging 91.50. R. H. Cobbold was top of the Eton batting and third in Hie bowling last year. In 19.21 Cambridge had Ihc three Ashtons. J. L. Bryan (of Gilligan’s team), Hill-Wood, Chapman, T, C. Lowry and C. 11. Gibson (the last four members of MacLaren’s team), but they were easily defeated by an innings and 14 runs, although Hubert Ashton had the honour of scoring the first century against the visitors. lie had made 107 in the first innings when lie was so badly injured by a blow on the hand that he was able to take no further part in the game. For the Australians Pcllcw made 146 and Andrews 59, While McDonald took 5 for -16 in the University’s first innings and Mailcy 7 for 37 in the second.
