Archdeacon G. Mac Murray, of Auckland is in Hamilton.

Mr. Adam Hamilton , M.P., fop Wallace, is in Hamilton. Mr. H. A. Westerholm, of Napier, i 3 in Hamilton. Hon. J. A. Young, Minister of Health, left for Wellington last evening.

The famous operatic soprano, Signorina Toti Dal Monte, arrived at Auckland by the Niagara this morning en route to Australia. Archdeason F. G. Evans and Revs. F. G. Harvie and B. 11. Strong of New Plymouth will arrive in Hamilton this evening.

Mr, R. T. Rcid, of Hamilton, who, with Mrs. Reid, is visiting Sydney and other parts of Australia, will extend his trip over another month.

Sydney University has conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws on the Prime Minister, Mr. S. M. Bruce. Mr. J. Deans, of Homcbush, Canterbury, vice-Presidcnt of the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand, left Wellington on Saturday on a visit to England.

Sir Henry Lunn, the distinguished, evangelist, arrived at Auckland by the Niagara. Details of the New Zealand tour have not been completed. He expects lo preach in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, and will leave for Brisbane on May 21.

New- Zealand's new British Trada Commissioner, Mr. L. B. Beale, arrived at Auckland by the Niagara this morning from Vancouver, Mr. Beale, who has been trade commissioner at Vancouver, was appointed to succeed Mr. Noel Elmslie.

A presentation of a set of decantcra and a set of fish knives was made by members of ihc Waikato Hunt to Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Dingle, at Tamaherc, on Saturday. The Master, Mr. Wyntt Brown in asking their acceptance of the gift remarked that but for the help given by Mr. and Mrs. Dingle it wa3 probable that Ihc Hunt would not havfl been able lo carry on during Ihe \va* period. They had always made members welcome. Mr. Dingle suitably replied.

Mr. Uric Baume who has been appointed editor of Ihe "Daily Guardian." Sydney, is a son of Ihe late Mr. F. K. liaum'e, K.G., M.P., and of Mrs. Kane, of Wellington. He commenced his journalistic career some years ago as a reporter on the New Zealand Herald (Auckland:, was for some time on the Cambridge Independent, and then joined the Dominion (Wellington;. Later he became a member of the staff of the Christchurch Sun, and from there was appointed editor o£ (he Timaru Herald. He had held the latter position for some months when he resigned in order to join the stair of the "Dailv Guardian, the new paper being started in Sydney. On the new Sydney dailv his abilities soon raised him to the position of chief sub-editor His appointment now as editor represents one. of the most rapid advances . for a voung journalist in the history of Australian and New- Zealand I journalism.
