A fatal motor accident occurred at th e Three Lamps, Ponsonby, last evening, Mr Leonard Claud O’Louglilm a married man, aged 3 i years, Ponsonby, being knocked down and killed by a "'three-ton lorry driven by Mr Lawrence Alfred Jobson, Ponsonby. The wheels, which were solid-tyred, passed over Mr O’Loughlin’s body, severely crushing it and lie died in a few minutes. A serious accident happened at Mall Toy and Co.’s sawmill, when a tramline employee, Arthur Finch, had his left leg smashed from the knee to the ankle, as the result of iron rails falling on him from a truck. Ilis condition is serious. OHKISTCHUnCII, Friday. .Mr Thomas Breen, a farmer, of Fcndulton, dropped dead yesterday while digging potatoes in a paddock behind his house. His wife, who was working with him at the time, says 1 rat he had given no indication of anything wrong. Death, it is thought, was due to heart failure. GISBORNE, Saturday. James Putlish, a shepherd on the Huakiluri station, was missing at dinnertime yesterday. Later lie was found dead on the iloor of the station office with a gun lying close to his body. Deceased a few months ago was kicked on the head by a horse, and bad not finite recovered from the injury.
