The Governor-General and Lady Alice Fergusson will leave Auckland on April 2G for the Islands in Hie Tutanekai, the programme including three and a half days at Rarotonga and seven days at Apia. The party will return to Wellington on June 8. Air L. F. Ayson, Government Inspector of Fisheries, is in Hamilton.
Mr G. V. Pearce, ex-AI.P. for Patea, is in Hamilton.
AH' j. Gamble, of Auckland, is staying at “Brighton” Hold.
Air Clement Bartley, manager of the Auckland Savings Bank, is in Hamilton.
Mr J. AI. Adam, Clerk of the Court, Hamilton, returned last evening from a holiday in the South Island. Air E. A. Brown, a trustee of the Auckland Savings Bank, is a visitor lo Hamilton.
Senior-Sergeant Sweeney, of the Hamilton Police Force, lias resumed duty after ids annual vacation.
Hon. ,T. A. Young, Minister for Health, is in Hamilton. To-morrow he will open the new hospital at llunlly. lie leaves for Palmerston North by Sunday evening’s Limited. Rev. William Macdonald, of Epsom, who has been in ill-health for some considerable lime, lias returned to Auckland from Cambridge. lie hopes soon to resume bis duties. Air V. 11. Potter, M.p. for Roskill, is seriously ill. His condition showed a slight improvement yesterday, but it is expected that it w:\> be two weeks before he will be able lo leave his bed.
Ilov. Charles Roberts, formerly of Manaia, was on Wednesday formally inducted as minister in charge of the To Awamutu Methodist circuit. The Rev. W. .1. Elliott, of Cambridge, president of the South Auckland Conference, officiated.
Mr E. A. James, gcrfcral secretary of the New Zealand Political Reform League, who returned lo Wellington at the end of last week, is confined to his room with an attack of influenza, but hopes lo l>e about again in the course of a few days.
A farewell “social” and presentation were tendered to Dr. Gibb at Wellington upon ids retirement from tlie church, after U years of service. Twenty-three years of this period were spent by hr. Gibb at St. John’s. Glowing tributes were paid to Dr. Gibb’s services, and he was presented with a handsome wallet, containing a cheque for .MAO. Airs J. Leith, an aged member of Iho congregation, also presented Mrs Gibb with a purse of sovereigns.
