CRICKET.

I HAMILTON HIGH SCHOOL. PAST V. PRESENT. On St. Patrick's Day the annual riickot match between the Past and Present pupils of the Hamilton High School, was played at the school ground. The match was an interesting one throughout but at the commencement or their second innings the Old Hoys asserted-their superiority and won with eight wickets in hand. School halted first but were unable to make a stand against the bowling of Ciough and were all out for G 7. Mills made 2i by sound cricket and. hit hard for ins runs. Wilson and Brown were the only other batsmen to make a stand and botli readied double ligurcs by steady baiting. The Old Boys, however, had difilcutly in passing this total. M. Speight stopped the rot at Hie fifth wicket but two more were down before the lead was secured. G. Speight was the only other batsman to make a stand. The School's second innings closed f« r 01 and only solid hatting by Pickering, Mills and Williams saved the innings. Lcnihan carried off the bowling honours in this innings. Old Hoys' second venture provided the brightest batting of Ihc day. Wilson and Ciough put on 37 for lhc first wicket, both batsmen forcing the pace all round Iho wicket. Md Speight following Oilling afler the. latter had scored 11, knocked up the highest score of the match. Speight scored freely on the leg side and in lhc slips, and was finally caught in the outfield after a bright display. McDcll, who figured welt as Old Boys' wickclkceper just reached double figures.
