AUTUMN FLOWERS.

HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY'S SHOW. FINE DISPLAY OF DAHLIAS. EXCELLENT DECORATIVE WORK. With the sweet-scented end softlytinted autumn blooms, Nathan's Buildings in Victoria Street presented a picturesque appearance this afternoon, on (lie occasion of the Hamilton Horticultural Society's Autumn Show. Dahlias of all varieties were to lie. seen in profusion, tastefully arranged in classes for the admiration of the crowd of lovers of the Goddess Flora. The blooms were particularly beautiful, their heavy crowns hanging in glory on a slender stem —mute testimony to the wonderful decorating hand of 'beauteous Nature" —blooming in all their beauty, the tine display of dahlias was undoubtedly a feature of the exhibition. In all classes the, entries were strong, competitors including flower lovers from all quarters of the district. A welcome feature of the Show was the increased entries in the decorative classes, there being some really fine work to be seen. In this section there were competitors from places as far distant as Auckland and Te Kuili. There was also many excellent exhibits in the vegetable and fruit sections, the tendency being for increased competition in these classes. The Show was opened by His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. R. Fow) this afternoon. He congratulated the executive of the Society on the '.Try excellent, work thoy-werc carrying out in fostering horticulture, and referred to the very high standard of the blooms in the exhibition.
