Abattoirs. The new abattoirs al Tc Aroha are almost completed. The Tc Aroha Borough Council agreed to the appointment of a manager at" a*salary of £75 per year. Mr H. Wallace was appointed head slaughterman at a salary of £256 per annum. Elstow Hall. At the annual mccling of Ihe Elstow Hall debenture holders, Mr 11. S. Stcmbridgc presiding, the secretary I submitted his report, which showed that."there was an existing debit of £7O 17s Sd, and other amounts brought the total liabilities lo £loi 12s Bd. The following oOicers were elected for the year: President, Mr 11. S. Stcmbridgc; vice-presidents, Messrs W. A. Clarke and W. T. Dale; secretary and treasurer, Mr T. W. Aickin; committee, Messrs S. Campbell, K. Suisted, F. Earl, 11. Blackiord, R. Andrews, F. Flowerday, F. C. Priest, A. A. Clements. T. .1. Andrews, A. G. Wilson and A. E. Stqckley; auditor, Mr A. Davcy. Methodist Guild. On Thursday afternoon there was a large gathering of members of the Te. Aroha Methodist. Ladies' Guild. After the usual business hart been transacted special reference was made to Mrs Henderson, who is shortly leaving on a visit to Ireland. On behalf of Ihe guild, Mrs Trebilco presented Mrs Henderson with a beautiful leather hand-bag. Mrs Henderson thanked the members for their gift, and for the love and esteem accompanying it. II is intended lo tender Ihe Rev. ami Mrs Henderson a public farewell on Wednesday evening. ' Borough Council. The Te Aroha Roroueh Council met on Thursday evening, the Mayor (Mr H. Coulter) presiding. A leller was read from Hie Auckland Provincial Employees' Association asking authority to apply for exemption of the Council from Hie electrical workers' award. Letters were also received from Ihe Central and Hamilton Power Boards, suggesting thai, Ihe borough should object and appoint Mr (iauvain as Iheir representative. The Mayor considered that the Council should know more of the suggestion.—The Council handed Ihe letters to the Electrical Committee for a report.
