BON VOYAGE.
SCHOLZ AND HAHN FAREWELLED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday. On the eve of their departure by the Niagara for the United States, via Vancouver, Ihe American athletes, Messrs .1. V. Scholz and L. Halm, were officially farcwcllcd by members of the Auckland Centre of Ihe New Zealand Amatcur Athletic Association. Mr A. Tilly, Ccnlre president, who presided, expressed the good wishes of Ihe athletes and those in charge of Ihe sport in Auckland for a good trip and a safe return to America. Mr Tilly also took the opportunity of wishing Mr Scholz many happy returns of the eve of his 29th birthday to-day. In supporting Mr Tilly's remarks, Mr W. Morton, secretary of the Centre, said that Messrs Scholz and Hahn were the most popular athletes who had ever visited the Dominion. A number of presentations were made lo the visitors, including two particularly fine walking sticks of NewZealand wood, presented on behalf of Mr George Tyler. Messrs Scholz and Hahn suitably returned thanks, both referring in eulogistic terms lo the fine sportsmanship of New Zealand athletes, and the enjoyable nature of their tour.
