LOVELY HANDS.

" PALE AND PINK TIPPED." Few girls realise what a great part is played in life by their hands. The most unobservant male often notices a girl's hands long before lie gains oiiy definite impression of her face. Some monlhs ago, Mrs Brown was sighing over her daughter's plainness. a painful fact that she had come, to regard as one of her crosses. "Never mind." comforted Mrs Smith. "We all know that Barbara will marry well, she has such lovely hands." Mrs Smith's prophecy has come true. Barbara's hands arc soft and white, with long fingers but not too long. Her nails arc pink and perfeclly shaped, but never over polished; and it is not altogether the formation of these hands that makes them so attractive, it is their expression. All the emotions that should be mirrored in Barbara's rather lack-lustre eyes are portrayed by her hands. They arc live-

ly. tired, thoughtful and capable by lurn. Dealing with cards, Barbara's hands vvoud be a fit theme for song or poem. The green baize of the table sc-'Ris to accentuate their daintiness. There is a saying that when lovers hands first meet, the sensation is more uplifting, more glorious, than that of the much-vaunted first kiss. Whether this be true or not, every lover knows that when he holds his beloved's hand words are superfluous. Willi hands warmly clasped, lovers can almost think in unison. How delightful are the hands that express those subtlelies that the voice dare not utter. A lurn of Hie wrist, the movement of a linger will, give point lo a whole slory. To kiss a woman's hand is. in many countries, the con-eel form of greeting. A man will gently hold (he tips of my lady's finger's and barely touch tiie pretty knuckles with his lips. Or. perhaps, she will place her hand on his sleeve, so Ihal it looks like some dedicate flower against the dark maleiial, and he will raise his arm and bend his head until lips and hand meet. If he loves her, he will turn her hand over and press his lips to the suft palm.
