WEDDINGS
GIBSON—BENTON. A pretty wedding was solemnised at the Methodist Church, Putaruru. on Wednesday, March 3, the parties being Lorna, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. P. Benton, of Putaruru, and Norman 11., second son of Mr George and the late Mrs Gibson, of Eltham. Taranaki. The officiating minister was Rev. E. Sage, of Morrinsville. The service was choral, members of the Putaruru Glee Club, of which the bride was a member, assisting. Mr Howie, the bride's uncle, presided at the organ. The bride, who was charmingly attired in a frock of white silk brocaded broche with silver and pearl beaded sprays, wore a hand-embroidered veil trimmed with pearls, surmounted by a pearl coronet and the orthodox orange blossoms. Her bouquet was of white flowers and maidenhair fern with tulle streamers. Miss Edna While, of Auckland, attended as chief bridesmaid, wearing an orchid mauve crepe do chine frock trimmed with gold and a mauve and gold hat. Her bouquet was composed of mauve and pink flowers tied with mauve ribbon. The second bridesmaid was Miss May Bonton, sister of the bride, who wore an apricot shot taffeta silk frock with silver lace trimmings and hat to match, and carried a bouquet, of pale pink and apricot, flowers. The best man was Mr A. W. Benton, brother of the bride, and the groomsman was Mr F. Hills. The mother of the bride. Mrs W. P. Benton, was gowned in a three-piece suit of mid-brown and figured silk marocain, with hat to match.
After the marriage ceremony a private reception was held, after whi>h. the happy couple left on their honeymoon, the bride's travelling dress being a gray costume with hat to tone. The church was prettily decorated by the members of the Bible Class, and the bride and bridegroom were the. recipients of numerous handsome and useful presents, including several cheques. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a gold wristlet watch, to the first bridesmaid a dressing case, and to the second bridesmaid a manicure set.
MATTHEWS —BAYLY. The wedding of Miss Enid Franklin Bayly, only daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Bayly, of Balmoral Road, Mount Eden, and Mr Alan Bracken Matthews, son of Mr and Mrs R. .1. Mathews, of Claudelands, Hamilton, took place at St. Barnabas' Church, Mount Eden. The Rev. Clivc Mortimer-Jones, vicar of Cambridge, brother-in-law of Ihe bridegroom, officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a very charming gown of deep cream crepe de chine, and gcorgetle, with petal trimming. Her veil was of Limerick lace and she carried a beautiful bouquet of carnations and sweet peas. The. bridesmaid, Miss Doris Clark, or Hamilton, wore a frock of the palest of pink georgette, with linsei trimmings, and a pink lulle veil. Iter houquel was of pale pink and mauve. Mr Russell Matthews allended his brother as best man. A reception was held subsequently al Ihe residence of the parents of the bride.
