EFFICIENCY IN TRADE.

MR BRUCE’S APPEAL. (United Press Association.) SYDNEY, March 15. Speaking at the annual congress of the Associated Chambers of Commerce of Australia, the Prime Minister, Mr S. M. Bruce strongly appealed to the leaders of trade and commerce in the Commonwealth not only to preach but to put into practice the gospel of efficiency so as to achieve a system which would conserve the rights of the producer, the consumer and tiie legitimate distributor. Mr Bruce emphatically declared that something must he done to improve the position, if trade and commerce would not face the problem the Governments of Australia would inevitably be forced to do so. He viewed such action by the Governments with apprehension, because they had seen lamentable examples in the past of the incompetence of Governments to deal with matters of trade and commerce.

The Prime Minister earnestly asked the delegates to give a lead along lines that would ensure benefit to the whole people.
