Trcntham was invaded last week by riflemen from various units of the territorial forces, permanent staff and navv, intent, upon winning Ihe right to wear the King's Medal and territorial and cadet champion belts. Scarcely had (lie echoes of the last shots died away when preparations began for the ‘'belt” meeting, in other words, the fourth annual competition conducted by the National Rifle Association. The principal objective of 350 marksmen already in camp is the right to be styled “King’s prizeman. 1926.” There arc other attractive honours.
The weather was perfe.ct for shooting. and a start was made with Ihe service series at S o’clock after tabloid addresses by Colonel Hughes (President) and Colonel Creswell (Chief Executive Officer). The first event was 10 rounds rapid at 300 yards, fired under almost ideal conditions. Some good scores were registered. The other practices making up the series are snap shooting at 300 yards, tile competition, and moving target at 200 yards.
