SMITHFIELD QUOTATIONS.
The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated March 12,192 G, advising Smithfleld delivered prices at that date as follows: New Zealand wethers and maidens: Canterbury quality, selected brands, 561 b and under 63d, 57-G4lb Old, G - 72ib 63d; other brands. 561 b and under Old, 57-G4lb GJd, 65-721 b Gd: ewes, Glib and under 44c1. Lamb: Canterbury quality (old season’s), 3Glb and under lOd. 37-421 b 8.3 d, 43501 b 73d, seconds 73d; selected brands (new season's), 3Glb and under 10 3-Sd,' 37—421 blO 3-Sd; other brands Ist quality (new season’s), 421 b and under 9 7-Bd. Beef: Ox fores 3.3 d, liimls 4 3cl; cow fores and hinds not quoted. Argentine chilled beef: Ox fores 3Jd; frozen beef not quoted. Lamb market firm, with good demand; mutton market shows slight improvement; beef, nominal prices.
Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London House, dated 11th lust.: —N.Z. crossbred lamb, North Island, heavy 7d, light :10d; demand fair. New Zealand crossbred mutton, North Island, heavy ">Jd, light 5Jd. Any change is in buyer’s favour; the market runs principally on light weights. New Zealand prime ox beef, hinds -Id, fores 2}d; demand nil, market nominal. Good average quality crossbred lamb, Australian, heavy Gd, light 7d; mullon, heavy -id, light 1 Li. Demand for lamb runs principally on poorer qualities, and for million on light weights; market quiet.
