A suggestion that all motor vehicle owners should be compelled to take out a third party insurance policy was a suggestion made to the Matamata County at its monthly meeting yesterday by the Bruce County Council. No action was taken, however, and the letter was merely received. Reference, to the damage to county roads by the carting of heavy power poles over them was made by Or. Judd at yesterday’s meeting of the Matamata County Council yesterday. Mr Judd said that poles were to lw carted over the Maungatauturi P.oad from Cambridge. He would like to know if the Council were going to be compensated for any damage from carting. He understood the carting was to be done hv a five-horse waggon without a brake, and this would mean that the new metal which the Council intended to lay would lie knocked to pieces on the hills. No action was taken by the County, however.
