LIVELY LABOUR MEETING. | I CHARGES NOT SUSTAINED. | Those who went to the Labour meet- j ing to hear the charges levelled against j Mr A. A. Alam, M.L.C.,,and also against I the'Minister for Agriculture, Mr Dunn, J for helping him into the Upper House, | got value for the two shillings they paid, whether for their membership ticket or for admission to the public gallery (says a Dubbo correspondent of a Sydney paper). The excitement started early. There was a scuffle at the door, j wb.en the members were entering, and ■, out of the melee emerged Mr Alain,, j M.L.G., and Mr Howie, a prominent local Labour worker. In order to "give himself greater fredom, and not to hamper his opponents, ' Mr Alam vacated the . chair , as president, and Aid, J. White was appointed. For four hours the storm raged. Accusations were hurled and countered, but, on the whole, fair order was maintained. The vote showed an overwhelming majority against the motion for expulsion, and the motion censuring Mr Dunn was not proceeded with. Out of about 250 members at the meeting, only half a dozen voted for the motion. The following motions were carried by a large majority:— "That this League views with the utmost contempt, the action of Mr Thorby, M.L.A., in disclosing a confidential letter for despicable political purposes; that this meeting record a vote of confidence in and congratulate Mr Alam, M.L.G., on his' appointment to the Upper House; that .'his meeting record a vote of confidence in Mr Dunn for supporting Mr\AJam as a member of the Upper House; that this League heartily condemns the action of Mr G. Rogers in rushing to the press with unfounded accusations against Mr i Alam's nomination for the Upper I House."

At the conclusion of the meeting cheers were lustily given for Mr Dunn.
