WESTFIELD MARKETS^ Messrs Alfred Buokland and. Sons, Ltd., report:—At bur weekly Westfield fat stock market we.penned faV cattle to the number of 682 head, compared with 508 head last week, comprising 256 steers, 391 ' cows and heifers and 5 bulls. There was a steady demand throughout, choice and prime beef selling at about last week's values. f Plain oxen and cows were lower. Extra choice ox sold to 3is per 1001 b, choice and prime :31s to 335, ordinary and plain 27s to 30s, prime young cow and heifer beef -25 s to 28s, ordinary cow beef 21s to- 245, plain and rough 12s to 17s. Extra! heavy prime steers £ls -2s 6d, heavy prime £l3 to £l4 15s, lighter prime £ll 5s to £l2 17s 6d, light prime £lO. to £ll 2s 6d, small and unfinished £7 10s to £9 15s, extra heavy-, prime young cows and. heifers £8 to £9 17s 6d, heavy prime, £6 15s to £7 17s 6d, lighter prime £5 10s to £0 12s Cd, other killable. cows £4 to £5 7s. Od, old and boner cows £2 to £3 l-7s 6d, bulls '£4' to £9 2s 6d. There was a very short market of sheep- and. in consequence there was a sharp, rise. Heavy prime wethers made 325.6 dto 34s od, medium to heavy pjMme wethers 29s to 325, light to medium prime wethers 26s to- 2>Bs 9d, unfinished wethers 21s to 255, extra heavy prime young ewes 2Gs' to 295, heavy prime ewes 24s to 25s 9d, lighter prime ewes 21s to 23s 9d, light killable ewes 17s to 20s 6d. The lambs which came forward were also insufficient for requirements and a good advance is reported. Extra heavy ' prime lambs made 30s 6d to 325, heavy prime lambs 27s 6d to 30s, lighter prime lambs 25s to 27s 3d, light prime lambs 22s 6d to 24s 9d, small and plain lambs 15s to 20s. Calves were penned short of requirements, there being in consequence a 'sharp rise in prices. Runners made: from £3 15s to £4 10s, heavy vealers £3 10s to £4 ss, medium vealers £2 9s to £3' 12s, light vealers 32s to £2 Ss.Trough calves 18s to 325,.: small and fresh-dropped 3s to. 2457' (144 sold). Hardly an average yard-" ing of pigs came forward. Valpesimproved, especially for porkers. Choppers made-37s 6d to £4 3s, heavy baconers £3 19s to £4 7s, light and medium £3 13s to £3 17s, heavy porkers £3 4s to £3'lis, light and medium £2 14s. to £3 Is, small porkers £2 4s to £2 12s, unfinished pigs 3Ss to £2 7s. Store pigs sold at last week's rates; good framed to 38s, slips 18s to 265, weaners 5s to 18s (377 sold).
