DAIRY ADVANCES.
, ..$ A REDUCTION ORDERED. (Times Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. A Wellington dairy exporting house is advised by cablegram from its London principals to reduce advances on consignments of butter to Is 3d per pound and on cheese to 7Jd- Previous advances on produce this season were Is 6d and Is 5d on butler and 9d and B£d on cheese. In the order dairy companies that have sold their outputs are not affected. Butler outputs were sold at Is 7Ad per pound f.ob. for shipment up to the end of December, and in the case of cheese some for whole shipments and some for shipment to the end of December were sold at 9 l-8d to 9 5-Bd. "There is nothing to be alarmed about in regard to the reduction in advances, because this is usual at this time of the year," stated Mr Brash, secretary of the Dairy Export Control Board, to your correspondent. There are very big quantities available, and no one can tell yet what the market may be. It is, therefore, advisable, both in the producers' and merchants' interests, that the advances at present should be oil a conservative basis."
