TUTANKHAMEN’S BODY.
REMOVAL OF MUMMY IMPOSSIBLE.
KING IS YEARS OLD.
(Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.)
Received November 21, 9.25 .a.m. CAIRO, Nov. 20.
The removal of Tutankhamen’s body is impossible owing to it, being firmly glued to the bottom of the gold coffin by a pitchlike material formed from libations. A gcldcn mask reaching to the thorax is also firmly gluecl to both face aucl coffin.
The features prove that, statues and effigies found in the tomb arc exact oortraits of the King. Numerous layers of golden ornaments, including armlets and Royal insignia, covering the body to the knees, prevented X-raying.
Spontaneous combustion destroyed the bandages and caused the silk underlying the tissues to become thin and brittle, cxplosing the joints, from which it is established that the King was aged eighteen.
