FUNERAL OF JOCKEY
The esteem and respect with which the late Samuel Walls, jockey, was liclcl by racing people was shown by the representative gathering at It is funeral at Karori (Wellington) Cemetery. Club officials from various parts of the Dominion were present, while on extra conveyance was necessary to carry the many floral tributes. The pall-bcarcrs were B. Reed, J. Barry, J. Olson, P. Mcßrearty, E. Copostako, and S. J. Reid. The Rev. 11. Watson, of St. Peter’s, was the officiating clergyman.
RACEHORSE DROPS DEAD.
To Kanawa, a maiden performer in Mr R. Hannon’s team, dropped dead at his quarters at Hautapu on Thursday. Te Kanawa, who was by Nassau from Tinoreka, raced at To Rapa on Saturday last. lie had on engagement in the Takapuna Plate.
