BUTTER SHOWS A DECREASE, INCREASE IN CHEESE. Owing to the unfavourable weather conditions experienced in the Waikato during the spring of this year a slight •decrease in the quantity of butter produced by the New Zealand Go-opera-tive Co. is. shown for the first few months of the present season as compared with the corresponding period of last year. Last month 2608 tons Bcwt of butter were made, compared with 2764 tons 9cwt for .October, 1924, a decrease of 5.64 per cent. For the months of June to October inclusive the company made 6191 tons Bcwt of butter, compared with 6382 tous 7cwt for the corresponding period last year, a decrease of 2.99 per cen. In the cheese department an increase is shown, the figures being:—September, 1925, 415 tons 18cwt; September, 1924, 413 tous llcwt. For the period June to September inclusive the company made 660 tons 15cwt of cheese, compared with 597 tons 17cwt for the corresponding period last year, an increase of 10.52 per cent..’ Compared with the Dominion figures the production of the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company’s factories is distinctly favourable, for during October the output of butter for the Dominion was. 7110 tons, as compared with 8850 tons for the same month last year, a decrease of 19.6 per cent. A decrease of 19.4 is shown in this year’s production of butter for the three months ended October 31, as compared with the production for the corresponding period last year, the figures being: 1925, 12.547 tons; 1924, 15.625 tons.

During last month the Dominion’s production of cheese was G 751 tons, while 7298 tons were made in October, 1924. An increase of 5.2 per cent, is shown in the production of cheese in the Dominion for the three months ended October 31, as compared with the production for the same period last year, the figures being 10,767 tons and 10,234 tons respectively.
