STEAMER IN A HURRICANE.

BIG SEAB SHIPPED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Saturday. The American cargo steamer, West Callra, which arrived from Los Angeles to-day, ran into a hurricane on September 27. A number of big seas wers shipped, and the decks were continually Hooded. Two boats were washed out of their chocks, and part of the lumber cargo wa*s displaced. The cabins and galley were Hooded, ventilators carried away, and the crews' quarters were also flooded. After the vessel had been hove to for twelve hours the gale moderated, and Cue weather prevailed to port.
