SAMUEL MARSDEN.

AN ELOQUENT APPRECIATION. Received Sentember 14, 11.40 a.m. SYDNEY, Sept. 14. There was a large gathering at the pilgrimage to Rev. Samuel Marsden's tomb at St. John's cemetery at Paramatta in connection with the Church Missionary Society's centenary celebrations. Bishop Taylor Smith, of South Africa, in the course of his address, said that no arithmetic had yet been written that could truly estimate the value of a good man. Marsden was great because 'lie was good. His greatest work was his pioneering missionary work in New Zealand. Marsden from being a man of purpose became a man of power. Nothing daunted him; difficulties only drove him nearer to God.
