IRISH CHAMPIONSHIPS.

A Dublin message states that at the Irish tennis championships, in the first round of the ladies' singles Miss Boyd beat Mrs -Pratt, 6—o, 6—i; Miss St. Ocorge beat Mrs Scroope, 6—o, 6—2. Misses Harper and Akhurst had walkovers. In the mixed doubles, first round, Smith and Miss Harper beat Jackson and,Miss Jackson, 6—3, g—2; Summerson and Miss St. George beat Sullivan and Miss McFerran, o—3,'G—2; Ilornidgc and Miss Boyd beat O'Reilly and Miss O'Reilly, B—6, 6—l. ', In the second round Shcrwell and Misg Akhurst beat Ilodson and Miss Bvrrie, 6—3, 6—3. DAVIS CUP CONTESTS. FRANCE DEFEATS BRITAIN. ' (Renter.) Received July 15. 12.30 p.m. LONDON, July 14.
