BUTTER FOR EXPORT.
ALLEGED FAULTY PACKING.
(By Telegraph.—Special to Times.)
WELLINGTON, Monday
Defects in (he packages containing butter for export are pointed out by the New Zealand Hairy Control Board*. That body has been considering com plaints relative to butter becoming tainted from the timber of Ihe boxes. Some of the (rouble has been caused by the use of faulty parchment, or parchment nol sufficiently heavy lo protect butler from' woody taints. The board strongly recommends I hat only the best quality parchment be used, the cost per box of which is approximately 2d, against Hid. The extra cost, of Ihe heavier parchment will be amply repaid by a better out-turn when the butler is placed on the counter of the grocer. The Board is firmly of opinion that unless butler boxes are going to be wired nothing less (ban 5-8 inch ends should be used to ensure carriage to destination.
