MELBOURNE, July 13
Torrential rain is falling over the whole of North Gippsland, where serious floods have occurred. The Tambo, Mitchell and Snowy Rivers have broken their banks, and miles of country are under water. The town of Orbost is isolated, but the residents were warned by wireless of the approach of flood waters and removed from the low-lying districts.
The railway services are disorganised. There have been many thrilling rescues.
A Ashing party, consisting of three men. lefl the lakes entrance for Mallacoola in a ketch and have not since been hoard of.
