SCHOOL FOOTBALL.
(To the Editor.)
' Sir, —As an old Rugby player it gave me great pleasure to witness the game to-day of bright and spectacular football played by our schools. 1 had been told that the Hamilton boys were good enough for any other, including the Moascar Cup holders, but could not get myself to agree until I saw today's performance of the local boys. Now, sir, having seen the New Ply-» mouth boys in action since winning the cup, and knowing also that they arc not so strong this season, I feel certain that should the Hamilton High School challenge they will win that handsome cup. and likewise bring honour to the school and incidentally advertise the Rugby and district. The rules in connection with the Moascar Cup competitions are too drastic for school football, as the gates are controlled by the N.Z. Union, which body gets the benefit of the record gates these boys attract, thus making the holders not too anxious to retain the cup for too many seasons. Yet when all is considered I think the local boys should he given the opportunity of proving they arc the "goods."—l am, etc.,
