The Weather.
The week has been a cold one, with winds from the south-west, ending in a sharp frost on Tuesday night, to the detriment of the kurni-kum, etc. The Quarry.
The quarry is still in full swing, employing some twenty men, and the metal is rapidly covering the Kurunui road (for which the settlers raised a special loan). When finished, no doubt a lot of traffic to Morrinsville will be diverted from the main road to avoid Hie fairly steep grade of Gibbs’ Hill. Hydro Electricity.
A large number of our settlers have discarded their benzine engines this season, and greatly appreciate the easily-switched-on electric motor for driving their milking plants. Perhaps the greatest benefit has been felt in the home —a splendid light and easy ironing and cooking, by using the hotpoint.
