A RAINBOW.
Come children dear, there's naught to fear, Come skip o'er hill and.dale; You see o'er head, the sky its bed, A rainbow coloured pale.
One end, my dear, seems very near, Behind that hillock there, I've oft been told there's bags of gold A plenty and to spare.
So let us run, come everyone, That rainbow end to And; With such great wealth and children's health, We've nothing more to mind.
Dear children fair, oh look up there, Our rainbow's vanished quite; And now instead, there's o'er our head A cloud as dark as night.
No time we'll waste, but make great haste, To homeward wend our way; But never mind, perhaps we'll find That gold some other day. —Alma Jean, Hamilton.
