FIGHTING IN CHINA
TROOPS FOR PEKIN. CHANG'S PROPOSED THREAT. OPPORTUNE MOMENT. (Sydney Sun Cable.) Received Sept 20, 10.45 a.m. PEKIN, Sept. 19. Chang-teo-lin, telegraphing to Dr. Sun-yat-sen, states that he is s'ending 180,000 troops to Pekin by six routes. Chang considers this an opportune moment for- striking the enemy a crushing blow. He says the enemy's seasoned troops have withdrawn northward from the Yantse, so if the Southern troops move northward Wuchang will be captured without difficulty. Latest news from Shanghai indicates that the Che-kiang armies were undermined by bribery. Large transfers to the other side have taken
place and Che-kiang is on the verge of collapse.
HEAVY FIGHTING REPORTED. (Router.) Received Sept. 20, 10.35 a.m. PEKIN, Sept. 19. Lu-yung-hsiang has announced definitely that he will hold out on the Hwangtu-Liuho line, making his headquarters at Lung-hua arsenal. Heavy lighting occurred during the whole of to-day at both Hwangtu and Liuho.
FLIGHT OF HANGCHOW GOVERNOR HEAVY FIGHTING AT LIUHO. (Australian fnd N.Z. Cable Assn.)' PEKINY Sept. 19.: % The civil Governor has fled from Hangchow, leaving the Chief of Police in charge. General Sun Chaun-fang, who is a supporter of Wu Pei-fu's interests, is marching on the city, which is expected to be captured in a day. or two. Latest reports state that the final collapse of the rebellious Chekiang forces appears an early probability. The North China Daily News says the Hangchow coup de'atat, which has forced Lu Yung-hsfcing to leave his capital for Shanghai, was organised by the Governor of Haiachao. He is known to be unfriendly to Lu. Heavy fighting commenced at Liuho after midnight. , ~-; , Large numbers of wounded are being brought into the Chinese Hospital.
