BOWLING.

CAMBRIDGE CLUB. * ANNUAL MEETING. A very. largely attended meeting of Ihe Cambridge Bowling Club was hold on Tuesday evening when the president (Mr S. Lewis) occupied the chair. The annual report and balance sheet as read, by the secretary and treasurer were adopted. The balance sheet showed a net profit on the year's working of £5 19s sd. Annua! Report.' The annual report showed that the club's membership for last season was S 3, including two honorary members, this being the highest for some years. A gratifying feature was the large number of first-year players who joined up.

Of the club competitions the president's pairs were won by Messrs J. Voysey and N. McFarlane (s). The championship singles were won by Mr ,1. Mclvor; Wright's trophy by .E. James and the first year's championship by F. Harper! Of the seven inter-club matches played seven were won and two were lost.

The tournament committee were kept busy, having the sole management of the South Auckland Centre Tournament, which was played at Cambridge, as well as our own Easier tournament.' The South Auckland Centre tournament was a great success, 3-i teams taking part and the Easter tournament was up to the standard of previous years, but we regret that sonic of the visitors were put to'a great deal of inconvenience through the railway strike. The result'of the full rink match was unique in that both the winners and the run-ners-up were from Ihe Hamilton club. The final was' eventually won by a team skipped by R. Coombes, J. Qualtrough's team being the runners-up. The pairs match was won by Messrs Dawson and Melulyre (JlunLly).

Although the balance sheet shows only a small credit, yet in view of the fact that £lO5 was spent in painting' anrl making alterations lo the pavilion, it must be considered highly satisfactory.

. The work of renewing ihe lower green is in progress. It is unfortunate that the work was not commenced sooner, but this was not possible owing lo the lateness of the Easter tournament. The timber is on the ground for new kerbing of the lower green. Election of Officers. The following office bearers were elected:—Patron, Mr Geo E. Clark; president, Mr T. F. Richards; vicepresidents, Messrs 0. E. Clark, j. D. Hamilton and .1. Ferguson; green eoinmittce, Messrs W. .1. While (convener), Ceo Harris and T. Dix; secretary and- treasurer, Mr Edgar James; general committee.' Messrs .1. Byrne, S. Loyvis-and 11. Heady; match committee, .Messrs S. Armstrong, G. Harris, R. Webber; delegates to South Auckland Centre, .Messrs T. P. Richards and-R; .lames;coach, Mr J. Mii[vor; tournament committee, Messrs S. Armstrong, 11.. Lewis and 11. S. Cox. General. Ft -was resolved that the annual subscription bo £3 and each member ' : be asked lo either give half a day's work, on Hie greens or donate 5s to the club.

Mr Hooker thought that some sort of winter entertainment should be held in the pavilion. After sonic discussion on the mailer it was decided to leave it in Ihe hands of the executive lo go into,

Mr While said the club needed a shed for soil and asked Ihe club lo make a grant, of £l7 for that purpose. 11, was decided lo sanction the, expenditure subject lo the I lonia l ''! Hoa.ro' allowing the shed lo be erected in (he domain.

if was decided. to keep one green open for winter play on .Wednesdays and Saturdays .only at the charge of one shilling' per game. A heart) vote of thanks was accorded all Ihe ladies who gave their valuable help during Ihe Easier [oilrUameul. Special mention was made of Mrs S.
