By Telegraph.—Press Association. WHANGAREI, Monday. On Monday the Ngunguru Hotel was completely destroyed, it being conjectured that the conflagration was caused by a defective chimney. Fanned by a light wind, the lire speedily spread, and within twenty minutes the building wa6 razed. Early on Sunday morning a fiveroomed house at Onerahi, owned by Mr W. H. Millington and occupied by Mr Curtis, was burned to the ground. On Saturday, while Mr H. Hunt and his family, of Whangarei, were at the pictures, their five-roomed residence caught fire, and in the absence o£ a water service it was reduced to ashes. The family lost everything, and two pet dogs, which were in the building, were burned to death.
