A rather unusual application came before the Nelson Hospital Board last week. Last month a man named J. K. Okey died at Uappahaluiock, in the, Murchison district, and was carried out of the hush some distance towards Murchison, the men losing a day in so doing, while two of them went on to Murchison with the body. The hoard was asked to recompense the men at the rate of lGs a day tor the time lost and also other expenses. .Mr Spiers, the Murchison representative on the board, said lie had told the men lie considered they were morally bound to carry out their dead comrade and he hoped the hoard would pass a strong resolution. Mr Berryman thought the application was about “the limit.” it was resolved that the letter should ho received and the board express surprise that such an application should be made.
