REFORMS IN FRANCE. CONFIDENCE IN CABINET. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.l LONDON, January IS. A Paris correspondent says that M. Poincare presented a programme of drastic financial reforms, including a twenty per cent increase in taxation and rigorous control of exchange dealings. He declared that there was nothing to justify the recent panic. There had been no inflation of currency since 1920. Refusing to reply to an interpellation regarding the scale of pensions, M. Poincare demanded that the Chamber vote confidence in the Government, which was carried by 394 to 180.
