ACTIVE PIANO TRADE.
Pio.no manufacturers, it is stated, can-not make- instruments fast enough to satisfy the demand. One big London maker said the pianoforte trade’s season is one of the shorest known —it begins with a rush in October and slackens at Christmas. The t-radq, would satisfy the present demand with much less difficulty if the workmen were allowed by their trade union to work longer hours. The maximum working week was 47 hours, and no man was permitted to wok longer, however much he would like to earn more money. Manufacturers declare that their efforts to recapture the market are being seriously interfered with by what they term trade union tyranny.
