RETURNED SOLDIERS.
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. The monthly meeting of the executive of the Waikato Returned Soldiers’ Association was held yesterday. There were present: Mr King (chairman), Rev Ready, and Messrs Scott-Higgin-son Toombs, Maddock and Norris. A circular was received from headquarters stating that upon representations from the*'N.Z.R.S.A. th c National War Funds Council had gone into the question of assistance to ex-soldiers suffering from sickness but who are not in receipt of a war pension, with the result that it was disposed to consider sympathetically such cases. The local executive was therefore recommended to forward the fullest details of these cases.
In discussing the matter it was decided to emphasise to all T.B. cases with whom members might come in contact the importance of this opportunity to them if they require further assistance.
In reply to a letter from the District Association it was decided to answer that this Association did not consider the time yet ripe to reorganise Associations so that small Associations should become sub-associations of the main branches in the district. The sub-committee appointed to go into the question of reviving interest in thc Association of Returned Soldiers reported that they had not yet come to a decision but it was felt that a dinner would probably be the most suitable means of bringing soldiers together. The committee would wetcome suggestions from members whether financial or not, in this connection.
