Entering the Baptist Church one dight to take care of a friend, Frank Spring was prosecuted and convicted on charges of being a rogue and a vagabond, through being there without lawful excuse. The evidence indicated a drunken scene. Spring subsequently asked for a rehearing, alleging that he was not a participant in the proceedings. The justices reserved their decision, and now decided on acquitting Spring with a reprimand.

PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY.

CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday.

From four nominations the Presbyterian General Assembly elected Rev George Miller, of Ashburton, moderator.

An invitation to hold the next meeting of the Assembly at St Andrew’s Church, ..Palmerston North, was accepted.
