Mr A. Harris, M.P., proposes to leave shortly on a visit to England.
Mr A. 11. Hyde, of Auckland, is spending a couple of days in Hamilton.
His Lordship, Dr. Averill, Anglican Bishop of Auckland, arrived in Hamilton to-day to participate in the Healing Mission. Mr G. A. Plummer, Chief Inspector! of Schools, Auckland, is visiting Hamilton, and is staying at the Brighton.
Mr D. L. McKay, the Assistant, District Trustee, is relieving as District Public Trustee at Hamilton.
The Hon. R. F. Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs, who has been spending the week-end at Tamahcre, will leave for Wellington by the Main Trunk Express to-night.
Cr. D. S. Rcid, the chairman of the Waipa County Council, was appointed at yesterday's meeting to represent that body on the Board of the South Auckland" Highways District.
Mr Algernon Lindo, of the Royal Academy or Music, England, is in Hamilton conducting the annual examination. He is staying at the Hamilton Hotel.
V a meeting yesterday of the Professorial Board of the Auckland University College, Mi' J- A. Dunnmg' B.Sc, was selected as the Auok and candidate for the New Zealand Rhodes' Scholarship.
Mr P Seliff, a director of the Christchurch Press Company, and Mr C F Mark, secretary to the Auckland Trotting Club, who have been on a visit to Australia as the New Zealand delegates to the recent trotting conference, returned by Ihc Makura from Sydney yesterday. Cr W. McCarthy, one of the Mangapiko 'riding representatives on tho Waipa County Council, has been indisposed for some time and an inmate of the Waikato hospital. At its meeting yesterday, the Council extended Cr. McCarthy's leave of absence and it was trusted that lie would soon be returned to health.
At yesterday's meeting of the Waipa County Council, the chairman referred to the loss Hie Waikato district had sustained by the death of Mrs C. J. Slorcy and Mr Win. Taylor. Mr Reid remarked upon tho great work performed by the early settlers, and said that there were no families better known. A vote of condolence with the relatives of the deceased was carried in silence.
