'QUAKES IN JAPAN.

The police have arrested 100 In connection with charges of murder and looting, following the earthquake. They secured confessions from thirty. Earthquakes continue daily, driving the residents from their houses.
BRITISH VICTIMS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn. TOKIO, October 6. The official list oT the British victime of the earthquake show that Mr F. :V. D. Murphy was- killed, also Mr A. V. Francis and Miss Emma Winstanley, who were previously reported missing.
