Miss I. L. M. King, Baglan, has been appointed deputy-registrar of births, marriages and deaths. Mr E. Barron, Chairman of Directors of the New Zealand Cooperative Bacon Co., is at Brighton.
Colonel and Mrs Brittain, of England, arc visiting Hamilton, and are at the Grand Central.
The Australian Press Association understands that Sir Dudley de Chairs' appointment as Governor of New South Wales is practically certain.
The Hon. D. H. Guthrie, Minister for Lands, will arrive from Suva by the Tofua to-morrow. Mr A. W. Mulligan, secretary to the Minister, reached Auckland yesterday by the Main Trunk express.
