CRICKET.

(By “Coverpolnt.")

The new season Is about to commence. The majority of the clubs have already interested themselves in their annual meetings, and the essential preparations for starting off arc well under way.

An important matter for club delegates is the annual meeting of the Association. This will be held at the Imperial Tea Rooms on Monday evening. It is incumbent upon the clubs to see that they are represented as many maters affecting their welfare and that of the game will be discussed.

At this week’s meeting of the Wellington Association a letter was received from the Otago Association enclosing a proposal to alter the present conditions of the Plunket Shield games. They objected to have three home matches one year and none at all the next, and desired to amend the regulations so that they should have at least one home match each year. They therefore proposed to amend rule 2, clause (c), which at present read: “The competition shall be inaugurated by all competing associations excepting Auckland travelling north during the 1921-22 season. In the following year all competing teams excepting Otago shall travel south. Thereafter all teams, excepting Auckland, shall travel north, and all teams excepting Otago shall travel south in alternate years," by deleting the last sentence and substituting: “Thereafter all matches shall be arranged so that at least one match in each season shall be played on the ground of each competing team. In the following season where one match was "played, two shall be played, and so on.” The Wellington association will discuss this proposal at the next meeting.
