MISSION OF HEALING.

A CANON’S STATEMENT. THOUSANDS HEARTBROKEN. MR HICKSON’S REPROOF. By Telegraph.—Press Association. AUCKLAND, Saturday. At a meeting of clergy addressed by Mr. Hickson on the conclusion of the mission to-day, Canon Haseldean stated that thousands were heartbroken because they had not received physical benefit from attending the meetings of the mission. For weeks and weeks they had been praying for physical benefit, and now, after the laying on of hands they were still sick in body. He did not doubt they had received spiritual benefit, but of over 3000 patients administered to there was not one per cent which had received physical benefit, and they were depressede and heartbroken as the result.

Air Hickson asked on what basis Canon Haseldeian founded his calculations of one per cent. Nobody had Ihe right to question the power of Jesus Christ in this way. The patients’ lives and condition were now in the keeping of God, and the Canon’s disbelieving attitude was hindeering Christo.

Rev. Cowan said that only yesterday over 100 came to tell the committee of bodily benefits.
