THE FISHING SEASON.
GOOD SPORT OFFERING.
Judging by the success which is al-
tending the efforts of anglers in these parts the trout-fishing season this year promises to be an excellent one, and although no great number of enthusiasts have as yet ben out several good catches have already been reported. In the Waikato itself, not generally regarded as an angler’s paradise, several fair catches have been obtained, especially at Horotiu, while even at No. 1 bridge a few ilsh have been landed. Good sport is stated to be available at Tirau, in the Little Waipa, and at flora Hora. Local fishing enthusiasts who have returned from excursions to the Okoroire district speak highly of the sport to be obtained in the Waimakariri, above Okoroirc, and In the Waihou. One resident, Mr W. Randrupp, caught 25 nice fish above Okoroirc. He comlains that sportsmen are handicapped in their operations in this area by the j large amount of ti-tree growing about * likely-looking pools, and suggests that % the Acclimatisation Society appoint a I man to clear the scrub away.
