A Hitlerite journal continued publication In defiance of Dr. Gcssler's ukase against it. Orders, therefore, have been issued that the office is to be seized if the paper is again published.

Herr von Knilling has resigned, Dr. von Kahr succeeding him. Herr Raumer has also resigned, and other Ministers arc expected to do so.

A report from Wurtemburg states that negotiations are proceeding with Bavaria for joint separatist action against the Reich. CABINET MAY RESIGN. BREAKING OF THE STORM. > Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn. LONDON, October 2. The German Cabinet crisis developed owing to the demand of the Nationalists that they should be represented in the Cabinet. They threaten to vote against the Government on a no-confldencc motion in tho Reichstag unless they are given posts. The Dally Chronicle's Berlin correspondent states that the People's Party demanded new appointments to the Ministries of Finance and National Economy of . Food 1 , whereupon Dr. Raumer tendered his resignation. The Socialist Party merely outlined its attitude and refused to co-operate with the Nationalists or accept the withdrawal of Herr Hilferding, Minister for Finance, or the abolition of the eight-hour day. Later, after a conference with Dr. Stresemann, the Socialists declared their readiness to accept a compromise on the eighthour day, but insisted 1 on the repeal of martial law in Bavaria. The Cabinet is considering the position. There is every likelihood that the Chancellor and his Cabinet may resign. / . The political storm has broken upon Dr. Stresemann's Cabinet. The question is whether the Cabinet survives, which seems impossible, or whether it expands to include the Junkers, forming a bloc against the Socialists. Finally the question is whether Dr. Stresemann goes, allowing, tiio Junkers to scizo power, which would entail dire consequences of a Junker dictatorship, which is known to be their intention. The Nationalists arc anxious to abolish Parliament, fight the trade unions, and defy France, but the real opposition emanates from the Chancellor's own party the People's Party—representing industrial magnates, who, like the Nationalists, wish to eject the Socialists from tho Government. The Socialists fear that tho next Government will be strongly reactionary, eventually leading to a new European war.
