THE RABBIT PEST.

UNDER CLOSER CONTROL. RABBIT BOARDS’ GOOD WORK. (By Telegraph.—Special to Times.) WELLINGTON, Friday. I Referring to rabbits, the DirectorGeneral of Agriculture, Dr. C. J. Reakes, questioned on his return to Wellington from his tour of the North, said he was glad to note that the rodents were being got under much better control in fhc Auckland province. The results have been better than for some years past. At the same time the departmental officers . are sparing no effort to do everything possible to get the pest under still closer control, and in this settlers generally arc co-operat-ing very heartily with the department. It had been found by experience that the formation of rabbit boards has given great assistance in bringing about this satisfactory state of affairs. When the boards are properly organised they are a very efficient factor in dealing practically with the rabbit pest.
