CASPER TRAIN DISASTER. CARS DISAPPEAR'IN OOZE. A SURVIVOR’S STORY. Australian and N.Z. Gable Assn. Received September 29, 11.30 a.m. NEW YORK, September 28. A survivor from the railway disaster at Casper describes the sudden overturning of the coach in which lie was siltiug witti a score of others unconscious of Lhe river’s proximity and the weakened bridge under them. Tiic train settled in the river’s ooze within a few seconds. He escaped from a window and swam until a rope was thrown by the enginedriver who was on the bank. The darkness, rain and a torrential current confused the victims. Some could be heard screaming for help. A few sat on the end of an overturned parlour car while it slowly sank Into the river bed and the waters closed over them. Four other coaches were never visible to the survivors after the fall. It is estimated that 125 people were aboard, and only 25 were discoverable four hours later.
